‘Queer’), is a space for queer/LGBTQIA+ bodies and spirits to come together for a period of nourishing and rejuvenating contact with each other and with the water.

As queer people, many of us have come to navigate the world struggling to receive, to trust, to surrender. This will be a place to slow down, a space to practice giving and receiving support, a space to practice surrender and playfulness, a space to empty ourselves so that we find moments of clarity, and a space to share nourishing time with queer kin. It will be a place to find the fluidity in your queerness.
In this overnight retreat, we will dip into the world of aquatic practices and aquatic dance, by drawing from Aguahara, Fluid Presence, Contact Improvisation, and bodywork and relational practices. We will ground through land-based integration work, focused on grounding, embodied reciprocity, and connection.

We will be using the gorgeous 97degree salt water pool, amongst the redwoods, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. There will be rest times to explore the hiking trails leading up the mountains from the property, to use the sauna, and to replenish your inner well with queer community and connection.

Your Host:

asha f. passalacqua (he/they) is an integrative bodyworker, somatic practitioner, aquatic therapist, facilitator and dancer with a somatic oriented approach to guiding the body into functional fluidity. He strives to meet his clients with a warm and compassionate presence as he supports them towards deepening levels of embodiment and somatic freedom. As a dancer/mover, his movement practice has been shaped by many influences, but is predominantly informed by Axis Syllabus, Contact Improvisation, functional movement, Contemporary dance, Playfight and aquatic dance. Through his practice and teachings, he strives to support the development of functional fluidity, a reliable connection to the ground, subtle listening, and presence in moments of disorientation.

Asha earned his BA from Hampshire College in integrative psychology, medical anthropology, and cognitive science, and his CMT from Mckinnon Body Therapy Center. His passion for aquatic therapy led him to study Aguahara and Fluid Presence in Brazil, Mexico, and Spain. He is a certified DanceAbility teacher, Aguahara practitioner, Freediver, a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and Compassionate Inquiry trained. He offers trauma-informed bodywork and somatic work through the psychedelic-assisted-therapy clinic Sage Integrative Health in Berkeley, Ca, and co-facilitates legal psychedelic retreats in the Netherlands with Kiyumi.
