As seaweed does, as snakes do, we weave and tangle, then slip through…

Inspired by the sensuous entanglements of tango, kizomba, and contact improvisation, Orange Crush is an evening dance lab experimenting with the ways we can aquatize partner dance forms.  This lab invites you to coil into a non normative, perhaps transformative, social ecology that dissolves the outdated, gendered lead/follow of partner dance culture. We will tend to intimacy, embrace body as landscape, and dance through the ebb and flow of coming in and out of connection.

Join us in the spacious womb pool that offers us salty warm water to dance with. The pool is located near Woodside, CA about 1 hour and 20 minutes from both Oakland and San Francisco.

Jote’s current inquiries include action research, regenerative intimacy, planetary anatomy and aquatic dance. Their studies of partner dance range from the tantric swirl of contra to the generative culture of fusion. Jote has been deepening with the somatic intelligence of contact improvisation for over 15 years. www.OurAmatomyProject.org

Kriss is asking questions that engage with grief and rebirth, how to create the conditions for emergent logic, and how one might undergo fantastical metamorphosis. They are a dancer and maker by land and water influenced greatly by their practices in free diving, aquatic therapy, and aquatic dance as well their land based practices in contact improvisation, axis syllabus, and contemporary dance. www.kristenrulifson.com
